The Cleveland Browns have locked up a core young player on the defensive side of the football for three more years.
After consistently getting better and stacking games throughout his time with the Browns, defensive end Alex Wright has earned a new three-year, $33 million contract extension . This contract extension includes $21 million of guaranteed money, locking in Wright's roster spot for at least the next two seasons.
Wright has been the starter for the Browns this season opposite of Myles Garrett and has turned into a fierce run defender with legitimate pass rush upside. While he is battling through a quad injury right now, Wright has racked up 10 pressures and three sacks this season. He had five straight games with a sack to end the 2023 season, then even flashed in 2024 (including the game-sealing sack for a safety against the Jacksonville Jaguars ) before his season was cut short with surgery to repair his elbow.
The defensive line has been a strong point of the Cleveland roster, and they are keeping that unit intact.
