"Buccaneers informed rookie safety Shilo Sanders today that he is being waived, per his agents Drew Rosenhaus and Robert Bailey, who added, 'we're hoping he gets claimed on waivers,'" Schefter wrote on X, formerly Twitter.
Sanders was signed as an undrafted free agent out of Colorado and was competing for a spot on the 53-man roster or the practice squad. He was recently ejected from the Buccaneers' final preseason game against the Buffalo Bills after getting into a shoving match with tight end Zach Davidson.
Sanders' teammates tried to calm him down, and when he was walking back to the sidelines, head coach Todd Bowles said something to him. After the game, Bowles spoke about the ejection .
"You can't throw punches in this league — that's inexcusable," Bowles said via ESPN's Jenna Laine. "They're going to get you every time. You've got to grow from that."

Sanders was competing for the final safety spot with Kaevon Merriweather and Rashad Wisdom, as they were looking to back up Antoine Winfield Jr., Tykee Smith, and Christian Izien. Sanders had some good moments through the preseason, but he also had some blunders.
Sanders is, of course, the son of Deion Sanders, and his brother, Shedeur Sanders, is also fighting to stay on the roster in Cleveland as the quarterback room consists of Joe Flacco, Dillon Gabriel, and Kenny Pickett.
It will be interesting to see if Shilo ends up with another team over the next few weeks, as someone who could need some safety help would probably consider signing him.
