With Saturday's loss against archrival Duke , the North Carolina Tar Heels are now in win or go home mode as they head into ACC Tournament play.
UNC (20-12, 13-7), which earned the ACC's fifth seed, will face Notre Dame on Wednesday, March 12 at 2:30 p.m. The Fighting Irish (15-17, 8-12), which escaped Pitt 55-54 in their Tuesday ACC Tournament matchup, will be looking to end North Carolina's season.
I'm hoping the Tar Heels come out fighting Wednesday, because their backs are against the wall. UNC won six straight games heading into the Duke matchup, playing its best basketball of the season. The Blue Devils simply just overpowered North Carolina, proving they're amongst the country's elite teams, while the latter still faces questions about its ability to beat strong teams.
The Tar Heels escaped Notre Dame by one point in South Bend, needing some late Elliot Cadeau heroics to making what should've been a blowout win possible. I really can't tell which way Wednesday's game will go, but UNC's season is over with a loss.
If North Carolina has one advantage for itself going into its ACC Tournament slate, it's the fact there'll be lots of Carolina Blue in the stands. The Tar Heels will play inside the Charlotte, NC-based Spectrum Center, but that doesn't guarantee anything.

UNC vs. Notre Dame prediction, picks, odds
Notre Dame is better than its record shows, while North Carolina's record is fairly reflective of its play this year. The Tar Heels could easily have a few more victories under their belt, but a tough non-conference schedule prevented that.
UNC should be able to win big Wednesday, but if we know anything about college basketball in March, nothing is given. The Fighting Irish are looking for blood, while North Carolina needs to re-discover itself after a tough loss.
The Tar Heels had a couple days off, while Notre Dame has the advantage of playing Tuesday.
Score prediction:UNC 78, Notre Dame 75
