I had a ton of hope for the North Carolina Tar Heels heading into their NCAA Tournament opener Tuesday night , with a First Four matchup against the San Diego State Aztecs on tap.
When the final buzzer sounded, UNC showed it belonged in the NCAA Tournament field after a dominant, 95-68 victory over San Diego State. North Carolina (23-13, 13-7 ACC) arguably turned in its best offensive performance of the year, shooting 52.6 percent against the country's top defense , while the Tar Heels locked down defensively themselves.
Sure, UNC is excited about its massive win, but the focus now turns to Friday. North Carolina will face the Ole Miss Rebels , one of 14 SEC teams in the NCAA Tournament field, on March 21 at 4:05 p.m.
I fully expect the Tar Heels to continue playing with chips on their shoulders, wanting to prove they can replicate Tuesday's success, but this time against an even better Ole Miss (22-11, 10-8 SEC) squad. The Rebels have a pair of Top-5 wins on their resume: at Alabama and later vs. Tennessee , while UNC has just one ranked victory in comparison.
11 seed North Carolina and 6-seed Ole Miss are both part of the South Region, with the winner advancing to face Iowa State or Lipscomb. As of Wednesday night, I haven't created my brackets yet, but I can easily see Lispcomb winning in an upset.

UNC vs. Ole Miss prediction, picks, odds
UNC shocked the college basketball world Tuesday night, dominating the San Diego State Aztecs in a 95-68 victory. What impresses me about that win: it came against the nation's top defense.
On paper, Ole Miss sports a very average defense. The Rebels are a deeper team offensively, with six players scoring in double-figures.
I'm not expecting the Tar Heels to replicate Tuesday's scoring production, but I'm expecting another solid offensive night. North Carolina pulls off an upset on Friday afternoon.
