Crew goalkeeper Patrick Schulte is returning to the United States men's national team for the first time since March , receiving a call-up to the October camp alongside Crew midfielder Max Arfsten.
Schulte was first called up to the senior national team in January 2024 and became a consistent member of the roster. Additionally, Schulte started for the United States' U-23 team at the 2024 Paris Olympics.
"I always enjoy those experiences," Schulte said. "It's always great to be within that environment."
Just eight days before the June USMNT camp , which Schulte was set to attend, the goalkeeper suffered an oblique injury that sidelined him for nearly two months.
The 24-year-old returned to action for the Crew on July 12 but was passed over for the following national team camp in September.
In Schulte's 10 regular-season games since his injury, he's recorded 27 saves and a clean sheet, while allowing 20 goals. Against the Chicago Fire on Sept. 27 , coach Wilfried Nancy opted to start veteran Evan Bush over Schulte.
This marks the fifth consecutive call-up for Arfsten after making his debut with the national team in January. In the friendly against Japan at Lower.com Field on Sept. 9 , Arfsten notched an assist in the 2-0 victory.
Former Crew midfielder Aidan Morris , who currently plays for the English Football League Championship's Middlesbrough FC, was also among the 27 players called up to the upcoming camp. Morris' last camp was last October.
The United States will compete in two friendlies during the October FIFA window, first against Ecuador on Oct. 10, and then against Australia on Oct. 14.
Schulte and Arfsten won't miss any time with the Crew as a result of these call-ups.
