Duke's Cooper Flagg Gets Big Surprise Before NBA Draft originally appeared on Athlon Sports .
With the Oklahoma City Thunder being crowned NBA Champions, the attention of the sport now turns to the 2025 NBA Draft.
Following a 2024 class that was heralded as one of the worst in recent memory, this year's class is loaded with potential superstars. However, while the class is extremely deep, much of the hype has centered around Duke Blue Devils forward, Cooper Flagg.
The former No. 1 overall recruit, who went on to win numerous awards at Duke, including the Naismith Men's Player of the Year, has been viewed as a lock to be selected with the first pick for over a year.
Following the results of last month's NBA Draft Lottery, which saw the Dallas Mavericks secure the top pick, Flagg may as well already have a locker set up in Dallas. It has been confirmed on numerous occasions that the Mavs are all in on Flagg, and aren't considering trading the pick or taking someone else.
While there isn't expected to be any surprises when the Mavericks are on the clock when Wednesday rolls around, Flagg was on the receiving end of one on Monday.
As shared by House of Highlights, Flagg's grandparents were able to make the trip to New York to surprise him before the draft.

His grandmother, whom he calls "Mammie," starred in an AT&T commercial with him during March Madness, where the two were shown playing bingo, and she had to remind him to be a good sport after winning.
In addition to surprising her grandson, she was also donning her viral custom sweater with his face on it.

While Flagg, who made $28 million in his lone year at Duke, is one of the biggest stars in the sport, the video shows that even the most famous athletes can't help but smile when grandma makes an appearance.
The 2025 NBA Draft is set for Wednesday at 8:00 p.m. ET and will air on ESPN.
