As it turns out, courtesy of Bengals defensive coordinator Al Golden, we now know that Taylor-Britt was one of the first players to stress improvement in Week 2.
"He was one of the first guys that came to me right prior to the defensive unit meeting," Golden said, according to Geoff Hobson of Bengals.com. Taylor-Britt hit a serious slump last season when the Bengals were expecting a leap, so some of his Week 1 struggles seem concerning. Golden, though, attributed it more to Week 1 rust than anything, at least for now.
It begs the question, though, of what the leash looks like for any Bengals defensive backs under Golden. DJ Turner seemed like a guy heading for a start and big role, only to rotate with the likes of Josh Newton in the opener.
The Bengals don't have a ton of in-house options if cornerback play collapses again, but one has to think that Taylor-Britt will need to make good on his promises quickly over the first month.
