The Jacksonville Jaguars defense won Day 2 of training camp , forcing turnovers, getting sacks (had they been able to play under game conditions) and knocking down passes all over the field.
It's a promising sign from a unit that ranked last in the NFL in most categories in 2024. Defensive coordinator Anthony Campanile is trying to change the mindset to a more aggressive, turnover-hungry unit ("violent at the point of attack"), and they've responded on the first two days with three turnovers, two sacks and nine passes broken up.
The only caveat: None of the turnovers and only one of the sacks was by a Jaguars first-team defensive player.

Jaguars offense notes
-
QB Trevor Lawrence has yet to complete a deep ball in two training camp practices but that's largely been because the defensive backs have made plays. He was 5 of 9 in 11-on-11 periods and 4 of 4 in 7-on-7 and failed to complete deep passes intended for Dyami Brown and Brian Thomas Jr .
-
Nick Mullens was 5 of 8 in 11-on-11 and 2 of 3 in 7-on-7. Parker Washington caught four of his seven completions.
-
Undrafted free agent QB Seth Henigan fumbled a snap on his first team period rep of the day and later threw an interception.
-
RB Bhayshul Tuten continues to hit the holes quickly and decisively. In the first two practices, he leads all running backs in carries with eight. Tank Bigsby has seven and Travis Etienne and LeQuint Allen Jr. have three each.
Jaguars defense notes
-
The Jaguars priority on defense is to get more takeaways and that mentality has been evident in the first two training camp practices. Undrafted free agent rookie DB Aydan White got a pick on the first day and the defense came up with two more on day two, with S Antonio Johnson picking Mullens and and another UNDFA rookie, DB Doneiko Slaughter, interception Henigan.
-
S Daniel Thomas almost intercepted John Wolford one play after Johnson's pick, when Wolford overthrew Dorian Singer.
-
DE Josh Hines-Allen got penetration on a play where DE Travon Walker batted down a Lawrence pass.
-
CB De'Antre Prince broke up Lawrence's deep pass to Thomas.
-
Keivie Rose, an UDFA rookie defensive lineman, would have had a sack of Mullens under live conditions.
-
Other pass breakups: CB Jourdon Lewis, CB Zechariah McPhearson, LB Devin Lloyd and S Caleb Ransaw .
Jaguars special teams notes
-
Kicker Cam Little kicked for the first time under live conditions in camp and missed two attempts from 50 yards, one left and one right. He made 3 of 3 from 44 yards and closer.
