CLEVELAND — The two biggest stars in this Guardians-Blue Jays game on June 26 have both been hit by pitches, and now both are done for the day.
Guardians starter Tanner Bibee first hit Vladimir Guerrero Jr. with a pitch in the third inning. He stayed in the game to run but was later pulled from the game.
In the fourth, Blue Jays starter Kevin Gausman hit Jose Ramirez in the forearm with a pitch. Ramirez, like Guerrero, stayed in the game to run but was later taken out.
Nolan Jones has entered in his place in the lineup, with Lane Thomas moving to center, Angel Martinez moving to second base and Daniel Schneemann shifting to third.
Both benches were warned.
Guardians manager Stephen Vogt has words with Blue Jays manager John Schneider
Guardians manager Stephen Vogt then had some words for John Schneider between innings. Vogt looked to be fuming with his star third baseman now out of the game.
Officially, Ramirez exited the game with a right forearm bruise. X-Rays were negative, and he's day-to-day. Guerrero's X-Rays were also negative.
