BATON ROUGE — Kickoff to the 2025 college football season is getting closer and closer. And another benchmark on the countdown clock was struck Monday: the release of the preseason US LBM Coaches Poll.
LSU football gets started Aug. 30 (6:30 p.m. CT, ABC) at Clemson in what is now confirmed to be a top-10 marquee matchup for week one at Memorial Stadium.

Half of the Tigers' games will be against preseason ranked teams including Clemson at No. 6, Alabama at No. 8, South Carolina at No. 13, Ole Miss at No. 15, Florida at No. 17 and Texas A&M at No. 21.

LSU and Brian Kelly opened last season No. 13 before ending the season outside the top 25.
LSU preseason rankings
The Tigers come in at No. 9 in the preseason coaches poll, the highest preseason ranking they've had since 2023. LSU is the highest ranked team in the preseason coaches poll that finished the 2024 season unranked, signaling what the expectation for the Tigers even outside of Baton Rouge are heading into the 2025 season.

LSU is the fourth-highest Southeastern Conference team in the poll behind Texas at No. 1, Georgia at No. 4 and the Crimson Tide at No. 8. LSU's opening opponent, Clemson , received two first-place votes in the preseason poll.
