LSU is not lacking numbers at the guard position with headliners Flau'jae Johnson and Mikaylah Williams back. And Mulkey and her staff signed trio of guards ZaKiyah Johnson, Divine Bourrage and Bella Hines in the program's No. 1 recruiting class.

Mulkey brought in Sheppard to be the team's defensive stopper but a foot injury sidelined her before the season began, thus putting her behind the 8-ball and buried in the guard rotation to start the 2024-25 season.
Sheppard did play in 32 games at LSU, averaging 3.9 points and one steal per game.
Before LSU, Sheppard played her freshman season at Mississippi State where she posted 5.1 points and 2.1 assists per game. She had a dominant performance against LSU as Mississippi State upset the Tigers in Starkville that season.
LSU has signed two forwards out of the transfer portal thus far in Notre Dame transfer Kate Koval and Amiya Joyner from East Carolina.
