SPOKANE, Wash. — L SU women's basketball star forward Aneesah Morrow took a shot to her nose against UCLA in the Elite Eight matchup Sunday afternoon inside Spokane Arena.
Morrow was guarding UCLA's Timea Gardiner when a screen set by Lauren Betts forced LSU's Sa'Myah Smith to backpedal. Morrow ran into the back of Smith's head and made contact with the bridge of her nose.
ABC's Holly Rowe reported Morrow had suffered a broken nose but Morrow dispelled that report to The Daily Advertiser following the conclusion of LSU's loss to UCLA, 72-65.
"My nose is not broke so I don't know who's lying and saying that," Morrow said. "Honestly, I'm tough. I come in every day and show grit, determination and that's just who I am. I didn't want to not be able to return to the game knowing that it potentially could be my last.
"I wanted to give everything that I had on the floor."

Morrow walked to LSU's bench with a towel on her face. The Bruins led LSU 46-41 at the time of Morrow's injury.
Morrow wasn't out of the game for long. She checked back in at the start of the fourth quarter.
