Few names in the Cincinnati Bengals football operation are free of a hot seat right now, given the disastrous circumstances around the defense.
And that apparently could include director of player personnel Duke Tobin.
Tobin, technically the Bengals ' general manager, consistently projects as safe regardless of on-field happenings, and has been since he joined the franchise back in 1999.
But NBC Sports' Mike Florio recently speculated on the idea that Tobin could be on his way out:
"[The front office is] constantly evaluating everyone. Players who will be back or not be back. Coaches who will be back or not be back. There's this bubbling up now that Duke Tobin, the de facto GM, is gonna be out. We'll see. Maybe during the bye week, maybe sooner… Heads are gonna roll in Cincinnati. This is unacceptable, because it's largely unprecedented how bad this defense is.

Note: This doesn't appear to be Florio officially reporting that Tobin is on the hot seat. If he were, it would've had a much bigger rollout than simply being a comment made seven minutes into a video with a title that doesn't address it.
Even so, the fact this conversation is happening in national circles right now speaks to the pressure on the Bengals organization.
While Bengals head coach Zac Taylor has made it clear the team won't be making any changes to the coaching staff during the bye week, his seat and that of those around him, including Tobin's, could be red hot entering the offseason.
