- Minnesota Vikings Add New Veteran QB
With just two quarterbacks in the entire organization after Carson Wentz suffered a season-ending shoulder injury, the Minnesota Vikings had no choice but to add another quarterback. On Tuesday, reports surfaced of the Vikings likely adding a veteran , which makes sense considering their QBs consist of second-year player J.J. McCarthy and undrafted rookie Max Brosmer . Both of which have combined to attempt just 49 NFL passes.
On Wednesday, the Vikings announced their replacement for Wentz in the organization, and to no surprise, it's a veteran.

According to the Vikings' website , Minnesota has signed 30-year-old quarterback John Wolford to the practice squad. Wolford, like Brosmer, entered the NFL as an undrafted free agent.
He's spent time with the Jets, Rams, Buccaneers , Jaguars, and even the Arizona Hotshots of the AAF. Yet, it's his time with the Rams, where he helped them win Super Bowl LVI alongside Kevin O'Connell, that helped Wolford earn this opportunity in Minnesota.
But he does fit the bill of who the Vikings were looking for as someone familiar with coach O'Connell's concepts, and someone who can help provide valuable insight to a young QB room. Though, Wolford has only appeared in seven NFL games and made four starts.
The 5-foot-11 QB has completed 58.7% of his passes for 626 yards, one touchdown, and five interceptions. He's also added 87 yards as a rusher, showcasing the fairly impressive 4.77-second 40-yard dash he clocked at his Wake Forest Pro Day in 2018.

Wolford has not appeared in an NFL game since 2022, so he's likely eager for another opportunity to see the field. Yet, with McCarthy returning to the starting lineup, and Brosmer expected to serve as his backup, Wolford is still a ways away from seeing the field again, but it's a step in the right direction.
