Carolina Panthers president of football operations and general manager Dan Morgan, even right after the adventure that was the 2025 NFL draft, chatted about the fluid situations of his team's starting offensive tackles.
After telling reporters that the fifth-year option on left tackle Ikem Ekwonu will be exercised , Morgan turned his focus to the right side with Taylor Moton. He was asked if he and the front office are secure with extending the 30-year-old hog molly.
"Yeah, we love Taylor," he replied. "Taylor is, obviously, a really good player. We're excited about him and this season and from there, we'll get together and we'll figure out the future. But right now, we're focused on the now."
Moton is set to enter the final year of his contract in 2025. If his pact goes untouched, he will account for the highest cap hit of any offensive tackle ($31 million) in the league.
The Panthers could alleviate the pressure of that hit by extending the former second-round pick.
But Carolina, as previously stated by Morgan this offseason, may be fine with playing out Moton's deal as is.
