It was a five-point Raiders lead at the half. A five-point lead at the end of the third quarter. and a five point lead at the two-minute warning. And yet with 1:35 left, the Raiders were losing. That meant, instead of kneeling out for a win, they would have to mount one more scoring drive to have a chance to win. It was on that drive that they lost a whole lot more than the game.
Just after they had moved into scoring range of a long Daniel Carlson field goal, they ran Ashton Jeanty through the left guard gap and Kolton Miller didn't get back up. He laid on the field for a couple minutes and eventually the cart came out to take the veteran left tackle off the field.
Miller was helped up, but put no weight at all on his right leg as he was loaded on the cart and taken for examination.
Replacing Miller on what would be the final offensive play of the game for the Raiders was veteran backup Stone Forsythe . The Raiders inexplicably ran Jeanty to the left side and the play was stuffed for a loss. Then Carlson came out for a 54-yard field goal attempt that was blocked and the Raiders lost the game 25-24. Insult to injury.
Miller was in the Raiders locker room, but on crutches.
Pete Carroll said after the game that Miller had a sprained ankle. Test results have revealed it's a high ankle sprain, which is the most severe and he is expected to miss several weeks with the injury.
The test results have also revealed a hairline fracture which will send Miller to injured reserve. This will mean he will miss at least four weeks.
