Here's what they're saying nationally about the Patriots using the No. 38 pick to take Henderson:
Mel Kiper Jr., ESPN
He did not fumble once in his entire career at Ohio State. There were some durability concerns ... But you look at this kid, he averaged 7.1 (yards) per carry. ... You got a guy who can score touchdowns and hit a home run from any point on the field."
Booger McFarland, ESPN
"The thing I love about him is, as a 200-pound running back, I think he's the best pass-blocking running back in this draft. He will step up in there and put his nose in there and he will light you up.

Rich Eisen, NFL Network
"That is a thumper coming to New England. TreVeyon Henderson and Rhamondre Stevenson , that's a very polysyllabic backfield. They are gonna be running the football for my New England Patriots."
Daniel Jeremiah, NFL Network
"See my comparison at the bottom, Clinton Portis. Think about how unbelievable he was, not just a runner, but in pass protection, and someone who has the speed to hit home runs."
"One of my favorite players in this draft. Changes the fabric of an offense. So explosive. Has some pop. And an unreal pass protector."

Robert Griffin III, former NFL quarterback
"TreVeyon Henderson scares defenses (every) time he touches the ball. This is something the New England Patriots desperately needed in their offensive attack. He is a physical pass protector as well. A++ pick for Drake Maye 's development and his offense scoring points.
"Henderson is an explosive weapon in the run and pass game. No. 18 on my big board. I see shades of Breece Hall and Jahmyr Gibbs."
An NFL personnel director to Fox Sports' Jordan Schultz
"One of the most exciting players in the draft and a very clean prospect. Home run threat every touch who can hurt you lining up out wide. Very dangerous in space. Multiple Pro Bowl caliber talent."

Chris Simms, former NFL quarterback
"TreVeyon Henderson is a big play machine. And Josh McDaniels will know how to get him open in pass game."
"Really good running back. Henderson ran for 1,016 yards with 10 touchdowns last season. He also caught 27 passes for 284 yards. The Patriots RB is stacked with Rhamondre Stevenson, Antonio Gibson and Henderson."
Andrew Callahan, Boston Herald
"It's great Henderson can blitz pickup. But you don't draft a RB 38th overall for that. He must do it all. And my concern is the state of the OL won't allow that yet. Would've preferred Luther Burden III , Donovan Ezeiruaku , Mason Taylor or Elijah Arroyo and an RB later. We'll see."

"Adds speed and playmaking ability. Probably would have leaned towards filling a bigger need, but Henderson is a good player."
