After losing several coaches to promotions elsewhere this spring, Denver Broncos head coach Sean Paytonhas announced his coaching staff for the 2025 season. Payton's staff now includes eight new hires and several in-house promotions.
After previously announcing Darren Rizzias the team's new special teams coordinator/assistant head coach, the Broncos on Thursday announced the additions of Chris Morgan(assistant offensive line), Evan Rothstein(director of game management/OL Assistant), Todd Davis (defensive quality control), Brian Niedermeyer(defensive quality control), Marwan Maalouf(assistant special teams), Zach Line (special teams quality control) and Taylor Porter(assistant strength and conditioning).
Additionally, Payton gave new titles and/or promotions to seven in-house coaches.
Those coaches are Zach Strief(offensive run game coordinator/assistant head coach), Davis Webb (offensive pass game coordinator/quarterbacks), Austin King(tight ends), Jim Leonhard (defensive pass game coordinator/assistant head coach), Addison Lynch(cornerbacks), Isaac Shewmaker(linebackers) and Shaun Snee(director of strength and conditioning).
Last year, the Broncos had an inside linebackers coach ( Greg Manusky) and an outside linebackers coach ( Michael Wilhoite). Manusky was fired at the end of the season and Wilhoite was fired this week after being accused of assaulting a police offer. For now, Denver only has one LBs coach in Shewmaker.
Strief, Webb and Leonhard all got big promotions to coordinator roles, perhaps a sign that they were drawing interest from other clubs this offseason. Managing to keep all three on staff is a big win for Payton going into the 2025 campaign.
