The Texas Tech football team finds itself ranked in both major preseason polls for the first time since 2008.
Last week, the Red Raiders checked in at 24th overall in the US LBM Coaches Poll. Joey McGuire's team finished the double play by being ranked 23rd in the preseason AP Top 25 , released Monday.
Texas Tech last appeared in the AP poll during the week of Sept. 23, 2018, when the Red Raiders were ranked 24th. Tech has been ranked in the AP poll just twice since the beginning of the 2014 season, both times coming in at 24 and staying there for a week before dropping out.
This is also Tech's highest ranking in the AP poll since Sept. 29, 2013, when Tech checked in at No. 20.
Fellow Big 12 Conference schools Arizona State (11th), Kansas State (17th), and Iowa State (22nd) join the Red Raiders in the preseason poll.
