Someday in the not-too-distant future, the Texas Tech football team could have a Cannon for an arm at quarterback.
On Tuesday, the Red Raiders picked up a commitment from Stephen Cannon, a 6-foot-2, 195-pound quarterback from Benedictine Military School in Savannah, Georgia. He's the first QB and the ninth pledge for the Red Raiders ' 2026 recruiting class.

He has a couple of offers apiece from military academies and Ivy League schools.

Cannon has been on unofficial visits to Florida State , South Florida and Georgia Tech and took an unofficial visit to Texas Tech this past weekend. He has official visits scheduled in June to App State and Texas Tech.
Benedictine Military has produced two power-four conference quarterbacks recently. Luke Kromenhoek spent last season at Florida State before transferring this offseason to Mississippi State. Holden Geriner spent three seasons at Auburn before transferring this offseason to Texas State.

Cannon was a first-year varsity starter last season.
In an interview last summer with the Savannah Morning News, he said, "I hope to play like Joe Burrow ― I can make all the throws, but can run it when I need to. I think I've improved a lot with my decision making. Coach (A.J.) DeFilippis has worked with me in the film room and on the field, and I feel like I know what the defensive play is immediately when I see a formation and know how to react."
