Tennessee baseball is preparing for its 2026 season. The 2026 campaign will be the first for the Vols without head coach Tony Vitello since 2017.
Vitello served as Tennessee's head coach from 2018-25 and accepted a manager position with San Francisco in MLB on Wednesday.
Fans were at Lindsey Nelson Stadium on Tuesday to attend Vitello's final scrimmage at Tennessee.
"If that is the last time I ever stepped foot on this campus or this field as an employee or as a Vol wearing our orange, I'm just so thankful for the people that showed up," Vitello told the Knoxville News Sentinel . "It will forever be ingrained in my memory and it made what was the last day on the job technically, very, very special."
Vitello compiled a 341–131 (125–85 SEC) record at Tennessee.
He guided the Vols to a 2024 national championship, two SEC Tournament titles (2022, 2024), two SEC regular season championships (2022, 2024) and three College World Series appearances (2021, 2023-24).
