This offseason will be an important one for Hubert Davis and the North Carolina Tar Heels: They need to reshape their roster. While the Tar Heels have added two players to the roster via the portal, a former Tar Heel found his new home on Friday.
Center Jalen Washington took multiple visits after entering the portal when it opened. He isn't going very far, but he is changing conferences. Washington committed to Vanderbilt on Friday night, ending his recruitment and joining the SEC.
The former four-star recruit out of Gary, Indiana, joined UNC in the 2022 recruiting class. He picked the Tar Heels over 13 other offers. He spent three seasons at North Carolina, averaging 4.2 points and 2.9 rebounds per game as a backup.

Washington never really developed into the player Hubert Davis imagined he would be, and it was better for both sides for him to move on. The center gets the chance to earn valuable minutes with Vanderbilt and help turn that program around.
