The North Carolina Tar Heels earned one of college basketball's greatest recruiting victories during the 2024-2025 college basketball season, landing a massive commitment from 5-star power forward Caleb Wilson.
Playing his high school basketball at Holy Innocents Episcopal School in Atlanta, Ga. Wilson chose UNC over the likes of Ohio State and Kentucky , with reports later revealing Wilson was down to just the Tar Heels and Wildcats. Social media exploded with excitement for North Carolina upon Wilson's commitment, while Kentucky fans were undoubtedly frustrated.

Wilson creates a level of excitement in Chapel Hill like how UNC is currently playing, winning its past six games . For Wilson himself, he recently achieved the pinnacle of high school basketball.
On Wednesday, March 5, Wilson and his Holy Innocents teammates captured the GHSA Private Class State Championship, dominating North Cobb Christian by an 84-45 mark.
Wilson was the title game's star, exploding for a 33-point, 13-rebound double-double. Wilson also showcased his defensive hops and athleticism, rising up for two blocks.
Joining Wilson in the Tar Heels' 2025 recruiting class are 4-star combo guards Derek Dixon and Isaiah Denis , who will have major roles depending on the decisions of a few North Carolina guards. Wilson will be a Day One starter, but how UNC fills its lineup around him is the greatest mystery.

The Tar Heels will need to hit the transfer portal to address next year's roster, particularly at power forward and center. RJ Davis and Jae'Lyn Withers are out of eligibility, while there's speculation Drake Powell and Ian Jackson are heading to the NBA.
