Head coach Kevin O'Connell announced that Jefferson will miss some time to nurse his hamstring. The 26-year-old wide receiver will be re-evaluated in the coming days. It's not clear how long Justin Jefferson will be out for, but the Vikings may be taking a cautious route with the regular season quickly approaching.
"Head Coach Kevin O'Connell has announced that WR Justin Jefferson has a mild hamstring strain and he will be held out of practice. Jefferson will be re-evaluated next week."
Hamstring injuries tend to linger, especially if the individual is brought back too soon. So, the Vikings will likely want to take their time with Justin Jefferson's hamstring injury to hopefully avoid it becoming a recurring issue throughout the 2025-26 season.
This isn't the first time Jefferson has dealt with hamstring problems. He missed seven contests in the 2023-24 campaign due to a similar injury, leaving the Vikings without their No. 1 option in the passing game for roughly half of that season. Ideally, this current injury won't be as serious, but that will be determined at a later time.

Jefferson and the Vikings are hoping to maintain success from last season with JJ McCarthy taking over as the starting quarterback. Justin Jefferson recently shared some realistic expectations about McCarthy, telling fans and media members to temper expectations. Regardless, the hype is real around this franchise, as nearly everyone is excited to see what McCarthy can do after being injured all last season.
Regarding Justin Jefferson's injury, more details should come to light in the coming days. The Vikings will likely monitor the three-time Pro Bowler before determining an official timeline for return.
