Alexander Shaw channels Lionel Messi with Inter Miami debut goal
Alexander Shaw scored an excellent goal in the 89th minute to give Inter Miami a 6-1 lead over Montreal.
This was his third MLS appearance, having also played against Charlotte FC in March and Colorado Rapids in April.
Shaw was already considered an exciting prospect, having played six times for the United States' Under-20 team this summer.
However, the 18-year-old's thumping strike suggests he is ready to play more consistently for Inter Miami's senior team.
Shaw told reporters: "I don't even know what happened, honestly. I was talking about it with my teammates right now.
"I don't remember how the play happened. I just remember the ball going in and celebrating with my teammates.
"I do remember my teammate telling me: 'Shoot it.' When I saw the open space, I went for it, and I'm so happy that it went in."
With football icons Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez on his team, Shaw has an amazing opportunity to develop into the next USA soccer star.
