The 2026 NHL Draft is underway, and the Boston Bruins have seven selections on Day 2.
They did not make their first-round selection, instead trading the pick to the Utah Mammoth for 24-year-old forward JJ Peterka . The Bruins entered the offseason with two first-round picks, but after the draft lottery and Friday's trade, they ended up with none.
The Bruins have four picks left this afternoon, and Ryan Nadeau, director of amateur scouting, will speak after the conclusion of the draft. Boston Hockey Now will update this article with each selection, scouting notes, and quotes from Nadeau.
Round 2, Pick 56: YURI IVANOV, G, MHK Spartak Moscow
With their first selection at the 2026 NHL Draft, the Bruins went slightly off the board for a goaltender. Yuri Ivanov , who ranked as the 10th European goaltender by Central Scouting, went 13-3-1 in 17 games with MHK Spartak Moscow in the Russian MHL this past season. The 6-foot-2 Russian finished with a 2.62 GAA and a .924 SV%.
Ivanov won the starting job for the playoffs, helping Moscow reach the MHL Final. He went 6-5-1 in the postseason with a 2.15 GAA and .928 SV%.
He is the first goaltender that the Bruins have drafted since 2022 ( Reid Dyck , Round 6), and the first Russian goaltender since Evgeni Ryabchikov (1994, Round 1).
Round 3, Pick 88: NILS BARTHOLDSSON, RW, Rögle BK U20
The Bruins then turned to a Swedish right winger. Nils Bartholdsson dominated with Rögle BK's U20 team this season, scoring a team-leading 23 goals and finishing with 42 points. He also had 17 points (9-8–17) in nine playoff games. The 5-foot-11 winger has a proven shot, and he has put it on display with Sweden's youth national teams.
The 18-year-old has played the last two seasons at the U20 level, improving from 37 points as a 16/17-year-old. He is expected to return to Rögle next season.
