Sam Ehlinger is extremely loyal to the Denver Broncos .
Ehlinger serves as the team's third-string quarterback behind Bo Nix and Jarrett Stidham . He's currently on the practice squad and has said he's staying in Denver because he likes the program Sean Payton has built, and he appreciates working under quarterbacks coach Davis Webb .
Webb has turned down active roster opportunities with three NFL teams this year to instead remain a QB3 with the Broncos . This summer, Ehlinger turned down 53-man roster offers from two teams. We now know those two teams were the Washington Commanders and Detroit Lions , according to KUSA-TV's Mike Klis .
More recently, Ehlinger turned down an offer from the Indianapolis Colts after they had an injury crisis at QB. Ehlinger once again opted to remain on Denver's practice squad, a decision coach Sean Payton described as " a big deal ."
Ehlinger has bounced between the Broncos' practice squad and active roster this fall, and the team will exhaust his three game-day elevations to pay him as many game checks as possible as a reward for sticking around. Time will tell if Denver's able to keep him beyond the 2025 season.
