- 5 Commanders not named Jayden Daniels who could hurt Eagles in Week 8
Another week comes. The Philadelphia Eagles have their hands full with another NFC East foe . One immediate takeaway seems obvious. Philadelphia cannot afford to make their Sunday night matchup against the Washington Commanders entirely about Jayden Daniels.
Sure, he's most certainly brilliant and remains the focal point of Washington's offense, for good reason. The Commanders , however, have other players who can create difficult matchups on both sides of the ball.

The Eagles have plenty to figure out, and little time to do it. Their Week 8 matchup against the Commanders presents another challenge. The Commanders are also navigating their own personnel questions. Their injuries could affect their depth and force other players into larger roles. These five Commanders are early candidates who could significantly affect the outcome, and the Eagles must account for their individual strengths if they hope to leave Northwest Stadium with a win.
Stefon Diggs, wide receiver
With McLaurin sidelined, Diggs could face increased responsibility in Washington's passing game. He missed Wednesday's practice, although head coach Dan Quinn indicated he was expected to participate fully Thursday.
His route-running and experience make him a key option for Daniels, especially when the quarterback needs a reliable target against coverage. Philadelphia's secondary has struggled to consistently prevent explosive passing plays, making Diggs a matchup the Eagles cannot overlook.

His practice participation will be worth monitoring throughout the week. He didn't participate on Wednesday (hand/hamstring), but this was listed as a rest day. If available, Diggs could test Philadelphia's ability to communicate in coverage and limit separation, especially on intermediate routes where Washington can keep the chains moving.
Chig Okonkwo, tight end
Chig Okonkwo offers Washington another way to attack the middle of the field. He caught seven passes for seven targets in his most recent game before the Commanders' bye. That brings his season total to 15 receptions for 150 yards. He offers a productive option who could become even more important with McLaurin out.
The Eagles must account for Okonkwo underneath while remaining disciplined against Daniels' ability to extend plays. If the tight end finds open space between defenders, Washington could have an effective alternative when its outside receivers are covered.

Amik Robertson, cornerback
Amik Robertson could challenge Philadelphia's passing game. He will have opportunities to disrupt routes, contest catches, and force the Eagles to work for outside completions. His performance could influence how effectively Philadelphia moves the ball through the air.
So far this season, he has accumulated 40 tackles, eight pass breakups, and a forced fumble. The Eagles must identify where Robertson lines up and how Washington deploys him in coverage. Winning at the line of scrimmage, creating separation, and avoiding predictable passing situations will help prevent the cornerback from dictating matchups.
K'Lavon Chaisson, linebacker
K'Lavon Chaisson gives Washington an edge presence who can pressure Philadelphia's quarterback. Through six games this season, he has racked up 15 tackles, 2.5 sacks, and two forced fumbles.

The Eagles have had stretches of inconsistent offensive execution, and disruptive edge plays can derail drives before they develop. Chaisson will look to exploit protection breakdowns and force the ball out quickly.
Philadelphia must account for his alignment and avoid leaving him with clean paths to the pocket. Sound protection assignments and decisive quarterback decisions will limit his opportunities to change the game.
Jeremy Reaves, safety
Jeremy Reaves could challenge the Eagles in the secondary, especially if he keeps making plays on the ball. His 40 tackles, including ten solo, and three additional pass breakups point to a defensive back who isn't afraid to mix it up, disrupt passing attempts, and make completions harder for opposing offenses.

Philadelphia must be aware of Reaves' ability to contest throws and avoid giving him opportunities to influence the passing game. The Eagles will need precise route execution and sound quarterback decisions to keep Washington's secondary from turning contested passes into drive-killing plays.
