5 QBs go in 1st round of Dane Brugler’s way-too-early 2027 NFL mock draft appeared first on ClutchPoints . Add ClutchPoints as a Preferred Source by clicking here .
The 2026 NFL Draft is barely behind us, but it’s never too early to start looking ahead to the 2027 NFL Draft. That’s what many evaluators are already doing, as the 2027 draft projects to have many more stars at the top than the 2026 class did.
That is the most true at the quarterback position. For a long time, it looked like only one quarterback would go in the first round. Even when the Rams shocked the NFL world by taking Ty Simpson at No. 13 after Fernando Mendoza went No. 1, there was still only two signal-callers taken in the first two rounds.
By all accounts, that is not the case next season. College football is littered with elite quarterback prospects heading into next year, which should make it a very fruitful draft for teams looking for future franchise signal-callers. The Athletic’s Dane Brugler had five quarterbacks selected in the first round in his way-too-early 2027 mock draft.
Arch Manning (No. 1), Dante Moore (No. 3), Drew Mestemaker (No. 8), CJ Carr (No. 15) and Jayden Maiava (No. 23) are all projected first-rounders according to Brugler, but a lot can change over the course of the season. Even if one of those quarterbacks has a bad year and falls out of the projected first round, there are a number of other very good quarterback prospects who can take their place. LaNorris Sellers out of South Carolina, Brendan Sorsby out of Texas Tech , and Darian Mensah out of Miami are just three of the options.
It will be fascinating to see how some of the teams at the bottom of the league handle next season with so many elite quarterback prospects available. Teams like the Jets and Cardinals, who are currently playing bridge quarterbacks and do not have a promising option into the future, will all be targeting the top of this draft in order to get their guy.
If the early lookahead to the 2027 class is any indication, there should be no shortage of options for those quarterback-needy teams next spring when the draft rolls around.
