The Aces enter Game 1 off a hard-fought 2-1 first-round series victory over the Indiana Fever, closing them out with a decisive 94–83 home win at Michelob ULTRA Arena.
Head coach Becky Hammon's offense continues to operate efficiently around center A'ja Wilson, opening up significant perimeter space for off-ball spot-up shooters and secondary playmakers.

The expansion Valkyries punch above their weight class, advancing to the semi-finals after outlasting the Dallas Wings in a thrilling 2–1 opening-round clash.
Their aggressive high-drop defense and help coverage prioritize clogging the paint against dynamic interior scorers like Wilson, but this defensive scheme frequently leaves wing shooters open along the arc.

Golden State's defensive priority is heavily dictated by stopping interior dominance. With A'ja Wilson demanding double-teams in the post, defenses are forced to collapse help coverage. This dynamic routinely creates clean kick-out opportunities to veteran sharpshooters like Jewell Loyd along the wings.

When these teams met during the regular season, Loyd efficiently exploited Golden State's defensive shell. In their June matchup, she shot 4-of-5 from beyond the 3-point line, proving how easily she finds rhythm against the Valkyries' perimeter rotations.
In high-stakes playoff matchups, rotation lengths shrink. Loyd's dual-threat ability to space the floor and secondary ball-handling ensures she maintains a high-minute floor, giving her ample time to hit at least two triples.
