Kenny Moore II isn't a rookie. In fact, it's been almost a decade since he came into the NFL.
But after playing the first nine seasons of his career with the Indianapolis Colts , he said that he has that rookie feeling again after joining the Philadelphia Eagles practice squad.
Kenny Moore II Ready for New Adventure with Philadelphia Eagles
In his first comments since signing with the Eagles , Moore discussed moving forward in his career and turning the page from his time with the Colts to a new page in Philadelphia. Moving to a new team after spending so much time with another organization is a challenge, but one Moore is eager to embrace.
"It is so different. Being in one locker room for nine years to picking up and going somewhere else, it's a different challenge. It's a different adventure and it gives you a lot of humility," Moore said. "Nothing that I did before matters to me. I feel like I'm a rookie all over again. So, I just want to turn the page and give all I can to this team, give all I can to this community."
Moore, 31, is five years removed from the lone Pro Bowl selection of his career, but he still feels like he has plenty to offer to the Eagles.
"I got a lot more years left in me to go get it," Moore said. "So glad to be in green and I'm going to give you all I got."
It remains to be seen exactly what Moore's role in Vic Fangio's defense will be, but having a player with his level of experience in the secondary certainly can't hurt.
Kenny Moore Reunites with Nick Sirianni in Philadelphia
For Moore, signing with Philadelphia provides him a reunion with Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni, who served as the offensive coordinator in Indianapolis from 2018 to 2020 before coming to Philly.
Moore was impressed with Sirianni's competitiveness while the two were together in Indianapolis and he's excited about the opportunity to work with him again.
"Number one competitive person in Indy," Moore said of Sirianni. "Just having that type of rapport with a guy like him, he's had a lot of great success, so just hoping to add to it."
Since Sirianni was the offensive coordinator with the Colts, he didn't directly interact with Moore much. Now as the head guy in Philly, Sirianni oversees everything, including the defense. Perhaps his previous relationship with Moore will be beneficial in that regard.
