The 2027 wide receiver class was always viewed as a historic one ever since those players were freshmen, and now it’s officially their year to cement themselves as top prospects. Ohio State superstar Jeremiah Smith is leading the pack as a generational prospect that has a chance to be one of the best draft prospects of this generation. After that, however, everything is up for grabs.
Coming into the 2026 season, Alabama ’s Ryan Coleman-Williams was viewed as the No. 2 receiver behind Smith after a nuclear freshman season. Unfortunately, Coleman-Williams struggled mightily in his sophomore season, which has hurt his stock a little bit.
While he may not be viewed as highly heading into 2026 as he was back in 2025, the talent still makes Coleman-Williams a tantalizing prospect coming into the season. He just snuck into the first round at No. 32 overall in Dane Brugler’s way-too-early 2027 mock draft.
Coleman-Williams is the sixth receiver off the board in this early look at next year, with Smith (No. 2), Cam Coleman (No. 6), Charlie Becker (No. 11), Nick Marsh (No. 20), and TJ Moore (No. 28) all coming off the board before him.
Coleman-Williams is undersized and struggled with drops as a sophomore, but he is one of the most fluid athletes at his position in the entire country. His ability to make plays after the catch is extremely valuable and should translate to the NFL when he does get there.
As a freshman, Coleman-Williams caught 48 balls for 865 yards and eight touchdowns. He still racked up 49 receptions as a sophomore, but only for 689 yards and four scores. By the end of the season, he was nearly out of the receiver rotation as a whole for Alabama and caught just four balls in the final four games of the regular season for the Crimson Tide.
Top target Germie Bernard is now off to the NFL, leaving a big need for Coleman-Williams to reemerge as one of the best wideouts in the nation. Alabama will also be starting a new quarterback, either Austin Mack or Keelon Russell , so having Williams as a security blanket would be a huge boost for the offense.
