It's been a little over a week since former NFL defensive end Allen Bailey was found dead in his home. Unfortunately, it may take a very long time for his family to heal, and his wife Lauren's comments suggest that the pain is still very fresh.
Taking to Instagram this week, Lauren Bailey posted a tribute to her late husband and shared that the entire family is still "devastated" by his passing on October 20.
"I still can't even say the words out loud," Lauren wrote, via the New York Post . "Thank you for all of the messages, calls, flowers, thoughts, prayers, food, hugs, wiped tears, memories, love and support that's been shared. We are all devastated. My husband was widely loved and will be missed by EVERYONE.
"He is the most incredible man I have ever met. My person. He made me believe in soulmates. I am so grateful I got to experience such an everlasting passionate love.
"This is going to always be a sting in my heart and a punch to the gut. But I will never question the power of our maker. I love you so very much Allen. My Bailey. My Shooby. My Hulk.
"The peace of Jesus Christ is the only way I've been able to endure this pain."
Tributes
Bailey played 10 NFL seasons, the first eight of which were with the Chiefs, who drafted him in the 3rd round of the 2011 NFL Draft, and the final two with the Atlanta Falcons. Both teams have since released statements offering their condolences.
"Allen Bailey was an excellent teammate, generous man, and kind soul," the Chiefs said in their post on X . "We're deeply saddened to hear of his passing, and our thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends."
