The Minnesota Vikings are 6-0 and began preparing Wednesday for Sunday's NFC North road game against the Detroit Lions (4-2) at Ford Field. They'll enter with a banged-up interior offensive line, which is nothing new this season.
Left guard Donovan Jackson went on injured reserve with a torn meniscus earlier this month, and the Vikings have yet to make a move to add more talent at the position via trade, already having missed out on Pro Bowler Quenton Nelson , who the Colts traded to Seattle (not Minnesota) on Tuesday.
Joe Huber, Aaron Jones miss Vikings practice
That made the opening statement of head coach Kevin O'Connell's press conference on Wednesday even more concerning. Of the two injury updates KOC gave reporters, the surprise was a new injury for backup-turned-starter at left guard, Joe Huber.

"Injury update-wise, Aaron Jones and Joe Huber will not practice today. We'll see how they feel tomorrow. Joe really just had some knee soreness kind of pop up post-game, and as we've gotten into the early part of the week, not overly concerned about it. We just want to give him another day and then see what his workweek looks like as we press onward."

O'Connell seems to think the injury is minor. Of course, any knee injury is worrisome, no matter the sport. Just ask Anthony Edwards and the Timberwolves. Thursday's official injury report is suddenly very important. If Huber can't practice by tomorrow, his odds of playing Sunday drop through the floor.
Joe Huber has stepped up at left guard
Huber, an undrafted swing lineman, has started at left guard since Jackson's injury. Sunday's 16-10 win over the Colts was his best game of the season, according to Pro Football Focus , where he posted a 70.5 overall grade and a team-high 82.8 pass-blocking grade.

Jones sat out Wednesday after aggravating his left knee against Indianapolis. O'Connell called him day to day on Monday. Jones has played through a sprained MCL in that knee since Week 2 and has 436 rushing yards on 105 carries this season.
