The Arizona Cardinals report to training camp on July 22 and begin the process of preparing for the regular season, forming the roster and determining starting jobs and roles on the team.
Leading up to the start of camp, we will take a look at every player on the offseason roster, their background, their contract, their play in 2025, questions they face and their roster outlook.
Here is defensive lineman Zach Carter.
Zach Carter background, 2025 season
Waived by the Las Vegas Raiders on Aug. 26, the 6-foot-4, 301-pound Carter was signed to the Cardinals practice squad on Sept. 17. He was elevated for two games in Week 5 and Week 6 and then signed to the active roster on Dec. 27. In four games played, Carter participated in 100 defensive snaps (36 percent) and had 13 tackles (five solo) and one forced fumble.
Zach Carter contract details, cap hit
When added to the roster last December, Carter signed a two-year contract worth $2.315 million with no guaranteed money. His 2025 salary is $1.215 million, which is also the salary-cap charge.
Questions he faces, roster outlook
Carter showed some skills when given the opportunity to play, but with the competition on the roster, it is likely a longshot that he can earn a spot on the 53-man roster to begin the regular season. However, the practice squad could again be a landing spot.
