Arizona's Bryce James transfer rumor involving Ohio State, Akron isn't what it seems originally appeared on The Sporting News . Add The Sporting News as a Preferred Source by clicking here .
Bryce James didn't play a single minute in his first season of college basketball.
A part of an Arizona Wildcats team that went to the Final Four, Bryce redshirted, and that status can be official now. To preserve this season of eligibility, LeBron's son couldn't take the floor for even a single second.
Arizona lost in the national semifinal in blowout fashion to Michigan, and eyes are on Bryce to see what he might do next.
Will he transfer? No one knows yet.
That hasn't stopped social media speculation from beginning already.
This post has gone viral, linking Bryce to Ohio State and Akron:
The problem? That's not a real news account.
That account writes in its bio, "Everything I do is satire." That post was made simply to pursue engagement, and it has nearly a million views, so it worked.
The wording of it is pretty funny and worth a laugh, but it's nothing more than that.
If Bryce chose to transfer, it is always possible he could consider schools back in his dad's stomping grounds — LeBron grew up in Akron, and Ohio State is the biggest athletic program in the state.
Bryce spent most of his life in California, though, so the Ohio connection may not actually make much sense for him anyway.
He's not in the transfer portal yet regardless, so it's a moot point unless that happens.
