FAYETTEVILLE — Ryan Silverfield expressed some optimism surrounding the status of Arkansas football linebackers Bradley Shaw and Wyatt Simmons during his weekly press conference on Monday, Sept. 28.

Both players did not dress during the Razorbacks ' (2-2, 0-1 SEC) 34-6 win over Tulsa, but Silverfield didn't rule them out for this week's trip to Texas A&M (2-2, 0-2) when asked if there is a chance that either player practices over the next few days.

"There really is (a chance). We had the meeting this morning with our athletic training staff and the doctors are going to follow up with those guys today," Silverfield said.

"It feels good in a 72-degree athletic training room on a Sunday night, maybe even a Monday AM, but what's that look like when we got to ask you, 'hey let's see you try to put the pads on and see what you can run full speed and lean and push on yourself.'"

Shaw started next to Jo'Quavion Smith at linebacker across the first three weeks of the season. He has 15 total tackles on the season.

Ben Bogle replaced Shaw against Tulsa and continued his strong start to the year. The West Virginia transfer is second on the team with 11 solo tackles. He had four tackles, one sack, a fumble recovery and a pass breakup in his first FBS start.

"(Bogle) is a fift-year guy that's shown leadership and shown the ability to get out there and make some plays," Silverfield said.

Simmons is a backup who hasn't played much this season with three total tackles.

Charlie Collins also missed Saturday's game, but Silverfield did not provide an update on the JACK linebacker.
