Lifelong Arsenal fan Zohran Mamdani got a surprise during FIFA World Cup talks few supporters get.
Zohran Mamdani's meeting in March with FIFA president Gianni Infantino was meant to focus on New York's preparations for the 2026 World Cup.

The discussion at City Hall in Manhattan was a serious one, with Mamdani raising concerns about ticket prices as New York and New Jersey gear up to host matches.
But the meeting also took an unexpected turn for Mamdani, who is described in the supplied source text as a lifelong Arsenal fan. During the conversation, he was introduced to Arsene Wenger via FaceTime.

This was not a routine football appearance. Mamdani's discussion with Infantino was centred on New York's role in a major global event.
That is what made the Wenger moment so memorable. It did not overshadow the main topic, but it added a personal connection for Mamdani.

For many Arsenal fans, Wenger is more than just a former manager. He is a symbol of the club's modern era, and even a brief introduction would be unforgettable.

Wenger's involvement made sense beyond Mamdani's personal ties. As FIFA's Chief of Global Football Development, his presence in these talks was relevant.
It was a moment that bridged Mamdani's responsibilities as a public figure with his own football identity.
With Arsenal having just been crowned Premier League champions in 2025/26, the timing made the moment even more meaningful. Wenger remains a prominent figure in world football, and Mamdani's team are back at the top.
