The Chicago Blackhawks lost 4-1 to the Detroit Red Wings on Thursday night in Detroit. This result comes as the Red Wings play without former captain Dylan Larkin, who is suspended. Dylan Larkin has been suspended without pay until he is traded. The team is playing without him. Viktor Arvidsson stepped up to lead the offense with three goals. He scored his first goal with 12:29 left in the second period. Arvidsson then added two more in an 80-second span to seal the win. The Blackhawks tried to fight back, but the Red Wings controlled the pace.
Bedard Stays Hot Despite the Loss
Connor Bedard is the only bright spot for Chicago right now. He scored the first goal of the game at 5:59 of the first period. This tally was his third of the season. The goal extended his point streak to four games. Bedard now has seven points through his first seven appearances in the 2026-27 campaign. His goal was the 78th of his NHL career. This move gave Alex DeBrincat the sixth-most goals scored by a Blackhawks skater before turning 22. He also recorded his 210th career point. The player's total ties Bobby Hull's fourth‑highest goal total by a Chicago player before turning 22. That goal marked Roman Kantserov's first NHL career assist. Kantserov's point streak reached three games thanks to the helper. Kantserov had six points through his first 13 NHL appearances. NHL.com stated he started the night as the NHL rookie leader in goals.

Red Wings Move Forward Without Larkin
Detroit is dealing with a strange situation. Reports state Dylan Larkin planned to remain inactive until the Red Wings executed a trade involving him. A suspension without pay was issued, so he stays away from the team and earns no salary until a trade occurs. John Gibson returned to the Red Wings' net after backing up on Monday night. The team found a way to win without their leader. Lucas Raymond scored a power play goal for the Red Wings with 18:51 left in the third period. His goal was assisted by Moritz Seider and Viktor Arvidsson. A penalty shot was stopped by Frank Nazar midway through the second period. The Red Wings took control early and never let up. Second City Hockey noted that the team had too many guys that weren't skating well in previous games, but they found a rhythm here.
The loss keeps them in the hunt, but only because the Vancouver Canucks are doing even worse.
