The Athletics added experienced rotational depth on Saturday afternoon, agreeing to a minor league contract with Dallas Keuchel . The former Cy Young Award winner will report to Triple-A Las Vegas as he attempts another return to the major leagues.
Keuchel, 38, has not appeared in MLB since 2024, when he made four starts for the Milwaukee Brewers . The left-hander recorded a 5.40 ERA across 16 2/3 innings before Milwaukee designated him for assignment in July.
The veteran later finished the 2024 season with the Chiba Lotte Marines in Japan. He joined the Kansas City Royals on a minor league deal in July 2025, pitched for Triple-A Omaha, and returned to free agency after his release in August.

ESPN's Jeff Passan reported the agreement Saturday on X, formerly Twitter, explaining that the two-time MLB All-Star will begin in Triple-A while seeking his first major league opportunity in nearly two years.
"Former Cy Young winner Dallas Keuchel and the A's are in agreement on a minor league contract, sources tell ESPN. Keuchel, 38, will report to Triple-A. He last pitched in the big leagues with Milwaukee in 2024."
The signing gives the Athletics another experienced option during a difficult stretch for their rotation. Luis Severino remains on the 60-day injured list with a shoulder injury, while J.T. Ginn recently landed on the 15-day injured list because of a blister.
The southpaw owns a 103-92 career record, a 4.04 ERA, and 1,254 strikeouts across parts of 13 major league seasons. Keuchel won the 2015 American League Cy Young Award with the Houston Astros , earned five Gold Glove Awards, and helped the club capture the 2017 World Series.
The Athletics enter Saturday at 44-59 after defeating the Minnesota Twins 2-0 on Friday at Target Field. The A's will look to secure a series win in Game 2 while evaluating whether Keuchel can eventually strengthen its rotation depth.
