- Athletics' J.T. Ginn Likely Out for Season Due to Elbow Injury Update
The Athletics received a disappointing update on starting pitcher J.T. Ginn during their series against the Seattle Mariners . The right-hander is highly unlikely to pitch again this season as he continues to recover from a right elbow injury.
Martín Gallegos of MLB.com reported the development on Friday, providing more clarity on Ginn's status as the Athletics navigate the final weeks of the regular season.

Ginn was placed on the 15-day injured list earlier this month after experiencing fatigue and soreness following his August 26 start against the Minnesota Twins . The Athletics initially hoped the 27-year-old could return before the end of the season.
However, Ginn's recovery has progressed slowly. The right-hander is dealing with an elbow impingement, and the Athletics are now taking a cautious approach rather than rushing him back for the final games of the season.

That ends what had been an encouraging year for Ginn. He has made 27 appearances with 24 starts, posting a 9-8 record, a 3.71 ERA, a 1.24 WHIP and 121 strikeouts across 138.1 innings.
Ginn emerged as one of the most reliable starters in the Athletics' rotation this season. He also came close to making history twice, including a no-hit bid against the Los Angeles Angels that was broken up in the ninth inning.
With Ginn unavailable, the Athletics recalled right-hander Jack Perkins from Triple-A Las Vegas to provide another option for the pitching staff.

The timing is particularly notable as the Athletics continue their series against Seattle. The Athletics entered the weekend with a 60-88 record, but Ginn's development had provided a bright spot for a club focused on evaluating its young talent.
Now, the Athletics will have to finish the season without one of their most important starters. Ginn can turn his attention toward recovering fully and preparing for the offseason rather than trying to return for a few late-season appearances.
