Barcelona handed major boost in pursuit of Serie A right-back target
It is no secret that Barcelona are in dire need for reinforcements in defence, as the recent defeats to PSG and Real Madrid have laid bare their lack of depth in the area.
The club have been linked with a move for Finn Jeltsch heading into the upcoming January transfer window and it appears signing a new centre-back is now a priority for the team.

Another area Barcelona should be looking at is the right-back position, especially after the injury of Xavi Espart and Eric Garcia. And one player the club have been linked with is Dodo .

There has, in fact, been an interesting development with regards to the future of Dodo, whose contract expires at the at end of the season.

Fiorentina's sporting director Fabio Paratici has hinted that Dodo will leave Fiorentina in the summer, effectively making him a free agent.
" It's very clear and always has been. At the end of the season, he will have the legitimate ambition to look for another club.

" We were willing to listen if a good offer came in, but we didn't receive one, and that created some difficulties in his approach to the new season," he said (h/t SPORT ).
This suggests Dodo will no longer stay at Fiorentina next season and considering that the Italian club might be willing to part ways sooner, a January sale cannot be ruled out either.
Should Barcelona make a move?

The prospect of signing Dodo on a free transfer in the summer of 2027 is too good an opportunity for a Barcelona team likely to struggle with FFP regulations next season.

Dodo is an attack-minded right-back, who can serve as a tactical alternative to a more defensive-minded Eric Garcia next season.
At 27, Dodo is also at the peak of his powers and could immediately strengthen the Barcelona defence that has lacked depth this season.
This, coupled with his contract situation makes him an ideal market opportunity for the Catalans, though the club may face stiff competition from Juventus and Milan in the race to sign the Brazilian.
