Bears' Kyle Monangai gets huge injury update for Buccaneers clash appeared first on ClutchPoints . Add ClutchPoints as a Preferred Source by clicking here .
The Chicago Bears have won three straight games, scoring 30 or more points in each of those victories. Here is the scary thing, though. Ben Johnson's offense is operating well below its peak, at least on the ground. Although running back D'Andre Swift has six rushing touchdowns during the current winning streak, he averaged less than 3.0 yards per carry twice in the same span. Few veteran RBs can carry a backfield against physical defenses for an extend period of time. Fortunately, help is coming .
Kyle Monangai returned to practice in limited fashion on Friday, making him questionable for Sunday night's prime-time collision with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers , per The 33rd Team's Ari Meirov. The 2025 seventh-round draft pick has not played since Oct. 4 due to toe and thumb injuries.
Even if Monangai cannot take the field in Week 9, it is deeply encouraging to see him clear this roadblock. The 5-foot-8, 207-pounder boasts 324 rushing yards and three TDs in four games played, averaging an excellent 5.4 yards per attempt.

The Bears (6-2) lead the NFL with 281 rushes and rank second with 150.8 rushing yards per game (Bucs are No. 1). Heavy run volume is a major part of Johnson's game plan, and Swift can only endure so many hits on his own. Simply put, the 24-year-old Kyle Monangai is arguably the biggest X-factor on this offense.
It will be important to see how he responds after the layoff. Those type of injuries can certainly linger throughout the campaign. The Bears still trust D'Andre Swift, though, and do not have to hasten Monangai's return. The Bears go on their bye in Week 10, so there is potential benefit to giving the former Rutgers star a little more time off.
