Every time it looks like the Anaheim Ducks are down and out in these Stanley Cup Playoffs, they come back even stronger.
After a nightmare showing at home in Game 3 of their second-round series against the Vegas Golden Knights , the Ducks responded with a very impressive 4-3 win to even the series back up in Game 4 on Sunday night.
Rookie forward Beckett Sennecke was the star of the show for Joel Quenneville and company on Monday night, as he finished with a goal and an assist in the win. His power play goal opened the scoring in the first period, and he assisted on Alex Killorn 's power play goal late in the second period that gave the Ducks a lead that they wouldn't relinquish.
Sennecke joined an exclusive club in Ducks history with his excellent performance. He joins Bobby Ryan back in 2009 as the only Ducks players to score a goal in three straight playoff games, per NHL.com.
The Ducks have responded to losses extremely well all postseason long. After losing Game 5 against the Edmonton Oilers in the first round, they rolled through Game 6 comfortably to close the series out. Anaheim also lost Games 1 and 3 to the Golden Knights, but responded in Games 2 and 4 with very strong performances.
Now, the Ducks will feel good about their chances to get a lead in this series in Game 5 back in Vegas. Quenneville's teams have always played incredibly well late in close series dating back to his days as the head coach of the Chicago Blackhawks , and now he is leading this young Ducks team on what he hopes is a run to at least the conference finals.
If the Ducks are going to keep the momentum and pull off the upset over Vegas, Sennecke is certainly going to be a big part of it. The former No. 3 overall pick has been one of the top rookies in hockey all year, and he is proving that he has what it takes to be an elite goal-scorer come playoff time as well.
