Illinois junior forward Berry Wallace added another preseason honor Wednesday, earning a spot on the Cheryl Miller Small Forward of the Year Award watch list.
Wallace is one of 20 players nationally and five Big Ten players included on the list, which recognizes the top small forward in women's college basketball.
This inaugural recognition comes after a sophomore season where she started all 34 games for the Illini and averaged 18.4 points and 6.2 rebounds per game.
Wallace finished the year with 626 points, the sixth-most in a single season in program history. She also recorded 16 games with at least 20 points, which ranked fifth in the Big Ten and among the top 25 totals nationally.
Those stats helped Wallace earn unanimous First Team All-Big Ten honors last season.
Wallace becomes the first Illinois player under head coach Shauna Green to appear on the Cheryl Miller Award preseason watch list.
She joins Kendall Bostic, Genesis Bryant and Makira Cook as Illini players under Green to be selected to one of the Naismith Starting 5 preseason watch lists.
Wallace joins Maryland's Bri McDaniel, Michigan's Olivia Olson, Nebraska's Natalie Potts and UCLA's Addy Brown as Big Ten players on this year's Cheryl Miller list.
Fan voting on the Cheryl Miller Award begins Oct. 30. The list will be narrowed to 10 candidates in February and then five finalists in March.
