After winning the AFC South last season, the Jacksonville Jaguars have put together an excellent start to the 2026 NFL season. Emerging as one of the AFC's premier contenders, the Jaguars enter Week 9 with a 5-2 record after dismantling the Indianapolis Colts 42-7 on Sunday.
Quarterback Trevor Lawrence is having a stellar season, and accompanied by a productive running game, the Jaguars' offense is performing at an elite level. Jacksonville is averaging 28 points per game, fifth in the NFL. They are also averaging just over 350 total yards per game, ranking 10th in the league. One of the biggest reasons for Jacksonville's success has been the emergence of second-year running back Bhayshul Tuten.

Through seven games this season, Tuten has 110 carries for 492 yards and three touchdowns. He has also made a significant impact in the passing game, recording 15 receptions for 181 yards and three receiving touchdowns.
Tuten, a fourth-round pick in 2025, had the best game of his career Sunday against the Colts. He rushed for a career-high 104 yards and a touchdown on 16 carries while adding two catches for 55 yards and another score.
Tuten played through foot and ankle issues throughout the game, but the injuries have since become a concern ahead of Jacksonville's matchup with the Baltimore Ravens on Thursday.
Michael DiRocco of ESPN shared that Tuten was the only player not seen during Tuesday's open media session of practice.
Tuten was also listed as a non-participant during the Jaguars' walkthrough session on Monday, meaning he has missed two straight team activities during the short week ahead of the game. Tuten now has limited time to show enough progress to suit up against the Ravens.
If Tuten is unable to play on Thursday night, Jacksonville will have to decide how to redistribute the backfield workload. Chris Rodriguez Jr. would be the most likely candidate to take on a larger workload, as he has served as Jacksonville's primary option behind Tuten this season.
However, Rodriguez has also been dealing with a hand injury this week. If Rodriguez is also sidelined, the Jaguars will likely have to turn to a committee approach. LeQuint Allen Jr. and Ameer Abdullah are the other two running backs listed on the depth chart.
The Jaguars will continue monitoring both running backs, and more clarity is expected when the team releases its final game status designations on Wednesday.
