Bill Belichick met reporters in Chapel Hill after the North Carolina Tar Heels' 38-35 loss to the No. 1 Miami Hurricanes on Saturday night, and a question about how he would reflect on a game his team led in the fourth quarter drew an answer he could have given after any week of any season.
North Carolina had never scored 35 points against a power-conference opponent under Belichick, and his teams had never lost when reaching that number, a mark that stood at 103-0 across the NFL and college before Saturday.
"It's the same every game. Look at the game. Things we did well, we try to keep doing well. Things we didn't do well, we try to improve on. Get ready for a new game, a new opponent next week, which will be totally different than Miami. Every game's different. None of them are the same. Each team has different players, different coordinators, different plays, different matchups. Each game's its own entity, but you learn from the games you play, good and bad. So we do that every week, no matter what the outcome. It's about the process," Belichick said.

What Belichick's review of the Miami loss will turn up
Quarterback Billy Edwards Jr. completed 28 of 34 passes for 341 yards and a career-high four touchdowns, with nine Tar Heels catching a pass. North Carolina went 5-for-5 in the red zone, converted 8 of 11 third downs and 2 of 2 fourth downs, and punted once.
"People are going to be patting the offense on the back. Well, we didn't score enough points to win the game," Edwards said .
Miami linebacker Marquise Lightfoot stripped Edwards with about five and a half minutes left and the Tar Heels down three, North Carolina's only turnover of the night, and the Hurricanes turned it into a 38-28 lead. Belichick was asked if Miami had changed its pressure on the play.
"They didn't mix it up. They did what they did the whole game. They ran what they ran the whole game, which is honestly what they've been running the whole year. It wasn't perfect on our part. We could have done a better job executing the play. The protection was good, but you know, we just end up holding the ball too long," Belichick said.

North Carolina still scored to get within three, then recovered two straight onside kicks and lost both to penalties, an offside call on Shamar Easter and an illegal block on Peyton Seelmann. Miami recovered the third kick and ran out the clock.
"So they're very good, very good on offense, and one-score, back and forth game, and then they got the turnover, and then it became a two-score game, and we couldn't get the onside kicks, so that's pretty much the story of it," Belichick said.
This was North Carolina's second consecutive home loss in a game it led in the final quarter, following a 31-30 overtime defeat to the Syracuse Orange on Oct. 24, and that finish is what his weekly review has to fix first.
"We did some good things, but we didn't do enough to win. So going to get back in here, watch the tape, try and build on it, and go get ready to play a good UConn team next week," Edwards said.
The Tar Heels are 4-4 and need two wins from their last four games to reach six. The first is at noon ET on Saturday against the UConn Huskies in East Hartford, Connecticut.
