Blue Jays' Max Scherzer drops 'confusing as heck' admission on injury concern appeared first on ClutchPoints . Add ClutchPoints as a Preferred Source by clicking here .
The Toronto Blue Jays have had a rough start to the 2026 MLB season, currently sitting at 16-20 ahead of Wednesday's road game against the Tampa Bay Rays . Concerns about a potential hangover from last year's devastating World Series loss to the Los Angeles Dodgers in Game 7 have unfortunately proven to be justified thus far.
Making matters worse for the Blue Jays is that the injury concerns are starting to pile up, including for starting pitcher Max Scherzer , who re-signed with the team in free agency this past offseason.
Scherzer has been on the 15-day injured list recently with a forearm injury, having last pitched on April 24 against the Cleveland Guardians .
Recently, the star got 100% honest on how frustrating the injury has been.
""It's confusing as heck because I have a clean MRI. That's what has everyone pulling their hair out. The MRI is saying, 'hey you should be good,' and I'm like no.. the check engine light is on," said Scherzer, per Hazel Mae of MLB International on X, formerly Twitter.
Injuries were always going to be a concern for Scherzer heading into a season in which he will turn 42 years old, but that still doesn't make the mysterious lingering forearm issue, which had given the future Hall of Famer trouble even before he was put on the injured list, any less frustrating.
Overall, the Blue Jays have returned most of the same roster that got them oh so close to a World Series championship a year ago, but the results have been different so far on the 2026 season, and Toronto will hope to slowly start turning things around.
Getting healthier would go a long way in helping them accomplish that goal.
