Coming off a nice nine-win season under head coach Matt Entz, the Bulldogs come into the new Pac-12 as one of the conference's contenders.
The non-conference schedule isn't easy, and it'll be a fight every week, but they should be in for another big season. Here's our breakdown of the 2026 Fresno State schedule.

The Good
Getting Boise State at home - and not as the likely flex - is a huge break. There isn't a huge run of home games, but the Bulldogs only leave California once until November. There aren't a ton of big positives, though, because …

The Bad
It's a funky slate that doesn't do the Bulldogs any big favors. The season starts at USC, Sacramento State isn't a layup, and going to San Jose State and hosting Rice will at least require effort.
There aren't two games at home in a row until the end of the season, and having to travel to San Diego State, Utah State, and Texas State is a lot of work in a run of three road games in four dates.
Best-Case Scenario
After a good fight against USC, the Bulldogs go on a run with a 3-1 September.
They pull off the Pac-12 road opener at Washington State, get by Boise State in the home showdown, and beat San Diego State in Snapdragon to all but lock up a spot in the Pac-12 Championship.

Worst-Case Scenario
After getting obliterated by USC, the Bulldogs have a battle at San Jose State and lose the Pac-12 opener at Washington State. And then the problems really start.
Boise State wins in Valley Children's, San Diego State takes the home game, and all of a sudden, the promising season is in danger of going in the tank. Late November losses keep Fresno State from going to a bowl game.

Games That Will Decide Fresno State's 2026 Season
1. Boise State, Oct. 10
The Pac-12 Championship doesn't exactly go through Boise State, but it comes close. Sandwiched in between road games at Washington State and San Diego State, this is big.
2. at Washington State, Oct. 2
It's the Pac-12 opener, and before that Boise State game, it would be a really, really big deal to bank a tough road win.
3. at San Diego State, Oct. 17
Depending on how the Boise State and Washington State games go, this could either seal or end Fresno State's Pac-12 title hopes by mid-October.
