The Milwaukee Brewers came up just short in their Saturday matchup against the Pittsburgh Pirates , 6-3. However, starter Jacob Misiorowski managed to further etch his name into the history books.
His strikeout pitch on Pirates slugger Oneil Cruz clocked in at 102.7 miles per hour . Misiorowski broke the previous strikeout velicty record set by Detroit Tigers ace Tarik Skubal , via Adam McCalvy of MLB.com.
"Misiorowski came out hot in the Brewers' 6-3 loss to the Pirates in 10 innings at American Family Field on Saturday, throwing his three hardest pitches of the season to the first batter of the game, Oneil Cruz, and striking him out with a 102.7 mph four-seamer," McCalvy wrote. "It represented the fastest strikeout pitch by a starter since pitch tracking began in 2008, unseating Tarik Skubal's 102.6 mph heater on May 25 of last season."
Misiorowski pitched six innings of three-run baseball against the Pirates, allowing six hits and and one walk while striking out nine. The Brewers sensation didn't come away shocked by the numbers he put up on the radar gun.
"It felt the same as any other start," the 24-year-old Brewers right-hander said. "I think that's just how it is. Normal."
Through his first six starts in 2026, Misiorowski holds a 3.31 ERA and an MLB-leading 51 strikeouts compared to 13 walks. Coming off of an All-Star season and with his velocity in the triple digits, the Brewers know the sky is the limit for the right-hander.
As Misiorowski continues through his 2026 campaign, Milwaukee wants to see him continuing to dominate and commanding his spot atop their rotation. They wouldn't mind winning more of his starts as well.
